When to Clean Your Camera Body and Lenses

Do you know exactly when your camera needs cleaning? I don’t until now. Today, there are very many instructions and how-tos you can find on the web to help you with camera maintenance. But to simplify, here is a step by step procedure I use to validate if there is a need for me to clean my cam. Maybe you can try mine and see if it works with you:

1.       Set your camera to a small aperture

2.       Take a picture of a white subject like a piece of paper

3.       Transfer the photo to your computer

4.       View your photo, zooming in to see any spots that represents dirt on the lens

5.       Use the contrast of your photo editor to spot blemishes

6.       If there are spots, it’s time to clean your DSLR camera body and lenses
